COAT OF SMILES, parody art of iconic symbols. A duck's hat, a mouse's ears and a smiling yellow button. Three iconic things brought together in one artwork.
The PAPERWALKER Journal is the personal weblog of DUCKLAND creator and award-winning character designer Florian Satzinger – who worked on characters such as Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Looney Tunes (Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, Silvester etc.), Pinky And The Brain, A.J.Hogg and Scooby-Doo, for studios such as Warner Bros., Disney, ReelFX and Zanuck Family Entertainment – in which he shares bits and pieces of his character design work, processes, visual development, inspirations and reference materials of current, past and future projects.

PLEASE NOTE, the displayed parody artworks of classical cartoon characters are not copies but distinct satiric imitations/caricatures, by exaggerating and transforming the original characters and their related indica (see 'Coat of Smiles') in a way that creates new originals and new meanings, different from the intentions of the originals.

This is a little reminder for those who're interested in designing an Olympic mascot. There are a few days left still. Check out the details right over here.

This here is a clip of the rough process which I posted on Facebook earlier today. BTW, the slogan in the video should read design 'an' Olympic mascot. I overlooked that and now it's too late to edit:

Call For Ideas: A Few More Days To Design An Olympic Mascot!

Please ignore my Dogduck in bat-diguise here, I'm not participating in this very olympic mascot design contest. The character here is just a joke, I couldn't resist to add something looney. Dogduck cosplaying Batman.

Anyways, here's the thing now, I'm in the jury of the 11th Special Olympics World Winter Games' official mascot and what is more is that the call for ideas/designs has been extended until Monday, January 19th, 2015. Though the call's dossier is in German only, it's open to everyone in the world to participate.

The call is segmented in two very rounds of evaluation. Here are the details in short:

#1 All participants submit their application in form of a sketch or/and a text expressing the very idea of their mascot character. In addition, samples of the personal portfolio are welcome, too. (PDF format, all together not more than 10 pages, A4, horizontal format). From all transmittals, the jury will select five (5) designs/ideas which will go up to the next evaluation round.

#2 Final design (after a short re-briefing). Four (4) participants will get an instalment payment of 800,-- Euros. The winner (1) will get a payment of 3.500,-- Euros.

Please submit your PDF via email to office@cis.at
All material must be received by Monday 11:59 p.m., Vienna time, January 19th, 2015. Call's official site: CLICK HERE
